Delegation from Southeast University, China
A two days seminar on “Integrated Circuits, Micro-Systems and Supporting Technologies” commenced on 17th December, 2016 at KIET. The key speakers of the seminar were Prof. Dr. Ing.-Wang Zhi-Gong, Director Institute of RF- & OE-ICs (IROI) and Prof. Dr. Zhiqun Li, Vice Director IROI. They delivered excellent talks on the topics of “IC Design for RF, Optic-Fiber and Neural Communications” and “40 GHz mm-Wave receiver front-end design”, respectively.

The first day session was rounded off by lecture of Dr. Arsalan Jawaid on “Microsystems & IC Design” and Dr. Hashim “RF IC Design “from NEDUET.

Universities from the entire country were in attendance. Teams from NED University of Engineering and Technology (NEDUET), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Bahria University, Habib University, Hamdard University were physically present in seminar whereas a live web telecast was also arranged to 12 different locations nationally and internationally for NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), NUST College of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering (NUST-EME) from Islamabad, University of Engineering and Technology and Lahore University of Management Sciences from Lahore. Sabancı University from Turkey, Tyndall National Institute from Ireland. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) from Hong Kong.

On the second day, ICTR&D Projects and other research programmes were discussed with audience.
Electronic Devices, Circuits & Systems (EDCAS) research group of KIET headed by Dr. Arsalan Jawaid and Dr. Najam Muhammad Amin discussed into research collaboration programmes with the Institute of Radio Frequency & Opto-electronics Integrated Circuits Design (IROI) of Southeast University China.

IROI is a world renowned institute, directly funded by the Chinese Ministry of Education. The institute has been given the status of a National Key Laboratory and is headed by Prof. Dr. Ing. Wang Zhi-Gong.
Research collaboration with IROI will enhance research capabilities considerably along with access to state-of-the-art circuit and system design technologies. This collaboration will play a vital role in research and also serve as a basis for joint Masters/PhD programs, and exchange/dual-degree programs at a later stage.

As a result of the discussion a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Pakistan Airforce-Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology (KIET) and Institute of Radio Frequency & Opto-electronics Integrated Circuits Design (IROI) of Southeast University China for collaboration in research and possibility of joint Masters/PhD programs, and exchange/dual-degree programs.

The signatories were AVM (R) Asif Tubrez, President KIET representing KIET and Professor Dr. Ing. Wang Zhi-Gong, Director Institute of RF-OE-ICEs.
